Comment on Doximity: An online network for health professionals by Bruce Cleveland http://www.medinfonowblog.com/wordpress/index.php/healthcare-social-marketing/doximity-an-online-network-for-health-professionals/comment-page-1#comment-7832 Bruce Cleveland Thu, 05 Apr 2012 20:08:41 +0000 http://www.medinfonowblog.com/wordpress/?p=2611#comment-7832 Mollie: Thanks for your blog about Doximity - disclaimer: we (InterWest Partners) are an investor in Doximity. And, I am speaking as an investor and board observer and not on behalf of the company. One of the major differences we see between Sermo and Doximity is that Doximity requires you to interact with your real name and credentials so that people know who you are and what your background is. Everyone who signs up for Doximity is first checked against the AMA directory, for instance. This was a very important design criteria that Jeff Tangney, CEO of Doximity, had from day one. The second big difference is that Doximity is not really an "online network" - although they do have a web presence. Instead, Doximity was and is really designed and intended to be a mobile app. The intent is for physicians and other healthcare providers to use Doximity during the course of their day from their mobile device. The addition of Amion - as a scheduling applet - to the Doximity mobile app, is an example of Doximity providing "process-oriented" applications intended to help physicians more easily collaborate with their colleagues and co-workers. We feel that Jeff Tangney - CEO of Doximity and the co-founder of Epocrates - is doing a nice job with the product and the feedback from the 50,000+ physicians now using the application is positive; suggestions for improvement are always welcome. Doody's Core Titles includes lists in Medical Assisting, Health Information Management (includes coding titles), laboratory technology (includes phlebotomy titles), pharmacy (includes pharm tech), and perioperative nursing (includes some surgical technology titles). Would you like to be involved in any of these areas, either as a librarian selector or to help identify candidates for Editorial Review Group Chairs to coordinate reviews of books?
